I have overseen all design aspects of PureWow's brand since 2012 including brand guidelines and a logo redesign. With the emergence of social media as a player in content distribution, it became clear that PureWow's original logo didn't translate across all social platforms. In 2016 I lead the design team in a redesign of the PureWow logo.

Summary: The design team was tasked with creating a logomark from PureWow's existing logo. However, after mocking up several different variations of logomark ideas, we quickly realized that our current logo was outdated and that creating a logomark from it did not make sense. We wanted a logo and logomark that added elevation, edge, and a little bit of fun reflecting PureWow's audience. Over a period of 6 months, we redesigned the logo and created a versatile logomark with the flexibility and adaptability to work across various content distribution channels and in situations that we can’t even anticipate.
Timeline: 6 months
Team: 4-person design team
Challenge: Redesign the original PureWow logo to reflect our current branding, to be optimized across all content channels and devices with the addition of a logomark, and to continue to evolve and scale with our brand over the next 5-10 years.
Role: Lead Designer - Sketched several iterations of the PureWow logo by hand and digitally, including script, hand-written, serif, and sans serif options. Each designer on the team took part in the redesign of the logo. We had bi-weekly meetings as a team to share each designers ideas until we were able to narrow down the options to 3 different logos. From there, we refined the details on each logo leading us to our final selection. We continued to refine the logo selection and logomark and then tested both in various different environments ensuring it's readability.
Results: The new PureWow logo is elevated and refined and the logomark has been able to translate across all social platforms. The logomark has also become the watermark on all PureWow video assets and since the redesign, we have been able to animate the logo and logomark.
Software: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
